Privacy Policy

The Privacy Act 2020 sets out protections for individual’s right to privacy, including privacy of children attending Greytown After School Care and their whanau.

At Greytown After School Care we recognise and respect whānau and staff individual rights in protecting their privacy.

Objectives: 

Children, whānau and employees experience an environment where they are kept safe from harm.

Children, whānau and employees experience an environment where they know the limits and boundaries of acceptable behaviour.

Procedures:

  • All confidential personnel files are kept under lock and key

  • Permission is sought on enrolment via a signed enrolment form for the use of children’s digital images for the purposes of advertising, marketing events and prospectus material

  • Separate written consent will be sought for any children involved in research undertaken at Greytown After School Care

  • All members of Greytown After School Care community, whānau and all other employees recognise the privacy of the whānau attending our service.  They will seek consent before using images of employees, children or whānau on any social networking site

  • Photos and videos obtained for social media will be deleted off devices once post has been made

  • If permission is not given by parents for a child’s image to be used staff will ensure child’s image is not taken on Greytown After School Care devices

  • The Manager of Greytown After School Care, Kylie Robinson is our Privacy Officer. The Privacy Officers duties include:

    • Encourage all staff members to comply with information privacy principles 

    • Deal with requests for personal information 

    • Work with the Privacy Commissioner in relation to investigations 

    • Ensure that Greytown After School Care complies with the Privacy Act 

    • Deal with parent complaints related to privacy breaches 

    • Monitor compliance with policies and procedures. 

  • All employees at Greytown After School Care are required to report potential privacy breaches that they become aware of as soon as possible to the privacy officer. The privacy officer will take immediate steps to contain and assess the situation on an urgent basis and if thought necessary will report the breach to the Privacy Commissioner.   • Greytown After School Care employees understand that photographic and video footage of children’s experiences recorded on digital devices will only be used by management for the purposes stated in permission from parents.
